Victory Medals - 1617 Dutch Rijksdaalder

£17.99

The use of replica coins as victory medals add a certain je ne sais quoi to a game of TtS!

I've bought some of these 1617 Dutch coins for my own use as victory medals for the forthcoming "Lust for Glory", since there are going to be Dutch fighting in pretty much all of the battles!

They are from the Province of Gelderland and feature an armoured half bust, holding a sword in his right hand against his shoulder and a shield with the arms of Gelderland with his left hand. The Latin lettering: ✤ MO · ARG · PRO · CONFOE · BEL · GEL · stands for: Moneta argentea provinciarum confoederatorum Belgii Gelriae.

On the reverse, a crowned shield with the arms of the United Provinces divide the date in the inner circle. CONCORDIA · RES · PARVÆ · CRESCVNT means "Through Unity Small Things Grow."

These really large silver-plated pewter coins are 42mm in diameter. They are sold in packs of 10.
