Victory Medals - Syracusan Dekadrachm

£25.99

The use of replica coins as victory medals add a certain je ne sais quoi to a game of TtS! This beautiful coin from Syracuse in Sicily dates from the reign of Dionysios I and represents a silver Dekadrachm from 405-390 BCE.

The head of the nymph Arethousa faces left, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple-pendant earrings, and pearl necklace; four dolphins swimming around her. On the reverse, a charioteer drives a fast quadriga whilst Nike flies above.

The coin is a dekadrachm, equivalent to 10 drachma, and is consequently a lot larger than most of the replica ancient coins I sell.

These hefty silver-plated pewter coins, approximately 35mm diameter, are sold in packs of 14.
